Berkeley has some great forces working in it favor year-round that contribute to the fabulous weather. If you like consistency then you’ll like the San Francisco Bay area climate. Nearly everyday has mild daylight temperatures and cool evening temperatures. Breezes from the Pacific keep the heat down in the summer, and winters tend to be milder because it is so close to the ocean. Expect highs in the low 70s during the summer, with lows in the mid 50s. Winter temperatures range from highs in the mid 50s to lows in the mid 40s. The heaviest rainfall tends to be in the winter time. Fog is a hazardous weather factor in Berkeley, and can roll in off of the Ocean at any time. It occurs year round, but is seen more often in the summer.

Travel Tips for Berkeley, California

When traveling to and from Berkeley by car remember that the terrain can be very mountainous and rocky. Fog rolls in very quickly and can blur your view of the road too. Take it slow! When hiking and sightseeing, the trails can be rocky also. A good pair of walking shoes is a great idea. Don’t let sunburn ruin your vacation. Apply a sunscreen with a high SPF, and reapply it after bathing or swimming. Always drink lots of water if participating in anything outdoors. Dehydration can occur very quickly.
